Hi, I’m Nicola, a Physiotherapist (BPhty), Wellness Coach, Speaker & Writer.
So, how can I help you feel better?

I understand how you are feeling because I have been there! Here’s a little bit about my own story …
The years of 2010 and 2011 were a huge turning point in my life. Within 18 months my marriage broke up, I lost a house in the Christchurch earthquakes and I had to let my business go.
During this time I experienced a lot of pain in my right shoulder. Not great when you rely on your hands and arms for your livelihood! I also had regular headaches, a sore neck, insomnia and sciatica. I sought help from a number of different health professionals. I would get temporary relief but it never lasted.
At the end of 2011 I ended up having shoulder surgery. This only added to the stress and overwhelm I was experiencing at the time. I felt like my life was a big, fat mess. I knew if I wanted to get my life back on track something had to change.
I started by making small changes. I made sure I got eight hours sleep a night. I drank 2L of water a day. I got outside and walked daily with my dogs and I started eating better. These four basic things made a huge difference in how I felt straight away.
I also started meditating for 10 minutes a day to calm my overactive mind. I simplified my life as much as I could to eliminate having to make so many decisions. I decluttered everything from my home to relationships. I started setting clear boundaries and sticking to them. I stopped putting pressure on myself to be living a ‘perfect’ life . I started being grateful. And I chose to be happy.
All simple stuff but it made a huge difference. Not only did my life start to feel more balanced and back on track, but my pain disappeared. Now when my shoulder starts to ache, or I get sciatic pain, I know my body is trying to tell me that something in my life is starting to get out of balance again. It’s like I have my own intuitive guide looking out for me!
In time I realised that I wanted to share my story and knowledge in the hope it could help just one other women out there … and so Reclaiming Strength was born.

Originally from New Zealand, Nicola currently lives in Tasmania, Australia, with her fiancé and four big fur-kids.
When not creating or writing, Nicola’s favourite ways to unwind include curling up with a good book, being out in nature with her dogs and fiancé, stretching it out on the yoga mat or watching a good tv series. She also dislikes green vegetables, loves wine and her favourite food is a good bowl of fries!
